Todd was also busy exploring the Sumatran coastline for waves in the early 1990s. His travels took him ever more ulu (far away), to Indonesia’s easternmost islands and beyond. In 1996, Todd built his Phinisi-style sloop Nomad on the very same beach in Sulawesi as Mango. Truly, they are sister ships. Todd skippered Nomad through West Java’s waters for over a decade, chasing the legendary waves of Pulau Panaitan and surrounding areas. Nomad and Toddy are highly regarded by all of those who’ve sailed with them.
