It’s such a surreal feeling sailing the Mango northward, considering it’s her original stomping grounds not to mention that MANGALUI NDULU means searching for waves in local NIAS dialect.

It’s a trip we have really been looking forward to all year! Having some VIP return mango veterans from Byron bay we knew we were in for a ripper, with a very healthy swell forecast we set sail straight away out of Padang.

First light the following day we steamed in around the point and what do you know, no charter boats and some clean 4-6ft surf, you beauty!

Dodzy the treasurer & Freddo president of Byron Bay Boardriders and also ‘60’s Aussie Champ have done plenty of trips and they sure know what spots are their favourite so after a group decision and couple days around Telo we sailed north up to the Banyaks and spent the rest of our trip scouring the coast of Nias finding so many amazing empty line ups.

Such an amazing trip had by all, and our Italian guest  ‘Juri came away with the ‘Mangalui all round legend’ award.

Mango has a same day turn around in Telo and get straight back out there for a half Mango half RLZ special trip.

Mango crew will have a few days off after the next trip, we will find ourselves on the beach of Simaleke (RLZ) to refresh and rectify our first aid & surf survival techniques with professional Gavin Clark
