While definitely not flat, waves have been smallish and lacking punch this week and our focus has shifted to include “small” day activities to mix in with a couple of playful waist to chest high surfs.
The culprit for our lack of quality ground swell is a large high pressure system that has parked itself in the southern Indian Ocean for a week forcing any swell generating lows further south in its anti clockwise rotation. Any small weaker waves we are seeing currently are coming from storms closer to us and north of the pesty high pressure system.
We expect normal transmission to resume soon to the Roaring Forties swell machine with still plenty of time left in the peak season swell window.
